Traveling artist on tour
People that know me would say my passion for music is as strong as my passion for art. For some time now I have been trying to combine my art and music and have finally come up with a way to express both. I recently was invited as an Artist In Residence at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake NY . I demonstrated landscape painting ala prima. The folks passing by really enjoyed the presentation and would often stop back to see my progress from time to time during the day. The experience was rewarding for me as well.
A couple of weeks later while exhibiting at the same museum for the Rustic Fair a friend invited my wife Carolyn and I to dinner at the Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake . The Hedges is a renowned resort formerly an Adirondack great camp. After dinner there was a bon fire out by the waters edge by a lean -to . A few guests were sitting around and enjoying the evening air. Well after a bit I got my travel guitar out of it's case and started to noodle around with the strings. I sang an old cowboy song and before you know it I was sitting in the lean -to facing the fire and about 50 guests came down to listen. Other rustic artist friends of mine joined in with fiddle and guitar and a mini concert began to take shape. There is nothing like a little moonlight, pine trees, a crackling fire, and good friends to share music with. I will never forget it.
Based on how well received this spontaneous event was I started to develop an idea , maybe there is a way to combine my art & music mmmm....as follows.
